Parfenova, Akulina

Akulina Parfenova was born in 1972 on Madagascar, where her parents worked as researchers. Her school years were spent in Leningrad, Russia; she received her higher education at the University of London, and, later, Stockholm. Her active social and professional activity has included back-up singing in a number of recognized indie bands, performing as a model in art happenings, and active participation in Greenpeace campaigns (for which she was arrested twice). During the two years of her marriage to a British aristocrat, she lived in a castle in Northern England. After a divorce she moved to Moscow, and in 2004 she settled in St Petersburg.

DESPERATE HOUSEMAID is Akulina Parfenova’s debut in fiction.
